eelings of exhaustion and being spent have never felt so "good" when you get the opportunity of checking into a world-class spa, of which you can find many scattered around Malaysia, to enjoy some luxurious time out alone, to soothe your senses. More than that, you'll leave the spa feeling rejuvenated and ready to take on the world again.

Here are three exceptional spas that will "touch" and stimulate your well-being amid multi-sensory settings.

Spa Village Cameron Highlands

The Cameron Highlands Resort offers the award-winning Spa Village, offering a range of sophisticated treatments and healing therapies inspired by the restorative properties of tea. Each guest luxuriates in a signature tea bath before every treatment. The Spa Village offers tranquil indoor and outdoor treatment rooms, tea bathrooms and a fully equipped gymnasium.

The Spa Village concept has always been to celebrate the healing culture of the region in which it resides. Set in a landscape of lush farmland and verdant jungle, Cameron Highlands finds its name and culture in the unique combination of distinctly dissimilar societies: The Orang Asli (original people), who were the first settlers of the highlands and the colonial British pioneers.

The Orang Asli are knowledgeable not only about plants, herbs and flowers that have healing properties but also about the whole ethos of living harmoniously with nature. During the colonial era, British planters realized the potential of the fertile mountain slopes for growing tea, which was a prized commodity. Today, Cameron Highlands is still home to many tea plantations, being Malaysia's largest tea-producing region.

The treatments at Spa Village Cameron Highlands feature healing therapies based on produce from the surrounding jungles and ancient tea rituals. This authentic blending of culture and product is what makes this spa a unique retreat, one which has six treatment rooms, eight tea bathtubs and two outdoor cabanas. Most of all, expect pure serenity here.

Spa Village Tanjong Jara

Every breath is pure refreshment, a relaxation of the soul, a pure journey of revival - this, in Malay, is called the Suci Murni philosophy that emphasizes the purity of spirit, health and well-being. And the award winning Spa Village Tanjong Jara is a sanctuary anchored in this ancient Malay way of life.

Occupying a beautiful complex of structures, gardens and pools, the spa houses a therapy center featuring programs for relaxation, reinvigoration and stress relief based on traditional healing methods. Unique restorative Malay treatments, which have been passed on over the generations, have a history of more than 1,000 years.

The practices are believed to have their origins in the convergence of Malay, Arab, Indian and Chinese influences during the historic Malacca Sultanate period.

At the Spa Village Tanjong Jara, the long-held health and beauty traditions are revived for you to enjoy. Treat yourself to this rich history, in which unique natural ingredients found in various indigenous herbs and plants are combined with the spa's resident Malay healers' skills to provide a special health and beauty experience. When your treatment is completed, you'll receive a beautiful batik sarong as a memento of your own personal Suci Murni experience.

The Chi Spa

Opened in early 2008 in the Sabah state, this spa - consisting of eight pristine villas, from the refined wood floors to the therapists' crisp cotton uniforms - is situated in a small island that adjoins the main Shangri-La resort via a walkway lined with palm trees. So you can expect most of the villas facing the South China Sea on one side, and the spa's tranquil inner courtyard at another side. Ideally tucked away from the resort's hustle and bustle, you'll quickly experience calm when stepping into the spa lobby, resplendent in polished wood decor and featuring a trickling fountain and soft lighting.

Customers fill in a questionnaire about their likes, dislikes, allergies or other health problems, and also expect quirky questions like your favorite color - all to determine which Chinese elements you're favoring for that day - earth, fire, water, wood or metal - so your treatment can be personalized accordingly.
