T

here were many movies about the judgment day before 2012, Knowing by Nicholas Cage was one of them. Knowing portrayed massive at the end of the world, but it did not receive the same criticism. Movies are an expression of the imagination. They are just movies, not reality, and 2012 is no different.

What shot this particular movie into the limelight in Indonesia was its condemnation by the MUI. Of course the MUI has every right to be concerned. But the fact of the matter is, the MUI's concern has generated even bigger public interest to watch the movie.

This is one part of human nature that we often forget: People want what they can't have.
