At the launch, the room of a hotel near the Hotel Indonesia traffic circle was made to look like a barn, with a huge wooden door and bales of hay, giving the place a farm-like mood. The name “Chanel” was written on the wooden door.

The loud sound of a cock crowing was like an alarm clock heralding the dawning of a new day. The music began to play as models, with straw and flowers in their hair, emerged wearing French label Chanel’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection.
Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld once again showed his skills with an extensive collection dominated by natural colors.
The outfits and accessories generally keep to the country theme, with aprons, poppy prints and hand-embroidered wheat-patterned trim. The outfits are simple, playful, fun and nice — the kind of clothes a country girl might wear.
Playful pieces are balanced with more elegant ones, including transparent and lacy dresses, blouses, tights and of course Chanel’s very own signature pieces: the classic tweed suits.
Lagerfeld, for instance, created cotton tweed suits – a straight mini skirt and fitted jacket with jeweled buttons, combined with a puffy cotton sleeved blouse in embroidered mousseline, a lambskin suede belt and trompe l’oeil ballerina tights.
The designer also matches a long sleeveless V-neck pullover with fringe tweed suits — a long jacket and mini skirt with side vent — and trompe l’oeil ballerina tights. For those who opt for pants over skirts or dresses, Lagerfeld has a number of wide-leg pants to choose from.
Take the cotton toile and linen wide-leg pants and cotton tweed fitted jacket with jeweled buttons, or cotton tweed wide-leg pants with worked tulle and lace bi-color blouse.
Besides the wheat- and corn-colored outfits, Lagerfeld offers a handful of pieces in black and cream. The fancy tweed bell-shaped dress with embroidered floral trim looks so sweet and girlie, while the lace knit puff sleeve dress with jeweled buttons has a sophisticated look.
For a more casual look, Chanel has a linen and toile jacket with hand embroidery, which is paired with cropped pants.
Among the country collection, Lagerfeld designed a number of mini and long party dresses, mostly in the classic color — black. The beauty and daring colors of poppy flowers are translated in the combination of a hand-knitted cardigan with embroidered flowers and a knit dress. Another item is the colorful floral-print silk mousseline dress.
Besides its outfits, Chanel also has an enormous range of bags, shoes and accessories. The shoes in particular really caught our attention.
The wooden-sole clogs are attached with an antique-finish nail detail and decorated with flowers or other patterns, while the classic high-heeled shoes also appear in the collection.
The nature-inspired bags and baskets definitely complete the country girl look. Take the basket, made from a mix of metal, fabric and robe, accentuated with fabric flowers, jewelry and ribbons. Another item is the weaved fabric basket with leather enlaced handles.
The accessories are varied — an enameled cuff bracelet with flowers and glass pearls, resin cuff bracelet with inlaid metallic sheath of wheat, a hair comb embellished with metal and glass pearl flowers, or the poppy camellia brooch.
