AKARTA: Great-granddaughter of former president Soeharto, Putri Aryanti Haryowibowo, nearly passed out when police moved in to arrest her, according to witness testimony at her drug trial Monday.

Putri was arrested in March at a hotel in South Jakarta, along with alleged drug dealer, Gaus Notonegoro, and a police officer from the National Police headquarters, Adj. Sr. Comr. Edi Setiono.

One of the policemen involved in the raid, Adj. Comr. Roni Oli, said in his testimony that Putri was barely able to stand up during the arrest.

“We started the interrogation but she was too exhausted. We tried to ask her questions again during our journey from the hotel to the Jakarta Police headquarters,” Roni said. — JP
