ritish man Steven Lee Jarrett and Colombian Miguel Jaramillo Jimenes have been released early after receiving amnesty from President Prabowo Subianto. The two foreigners were among a total of 1,178 convicts granted amnesty last week.

"Both convicts were released from the Bangli Narcotic Penitentiary on Saturday," Bangli Narcotics Penitentiary warden Marulye Simbolon said on Monday.

Jarret was sentenced to four years and Rp 800 million (US$48,829) in fines or an extra three-month prison term if he cannot pay the fine. Jarrett has served two years and nine months in jail.

Meanwhile, Jimenes was sentenced to five and a half years and ordered to pay a Rp 1 billion fine or face an extra three months in prison. Jimenes only served 10 months before he was pardoned.

Marulye said that the two foreigners were among five prisoners released from the Bangli Narcotic Prison on Saturday after receiving the amnesty.
