AKARTA: The city administration is expected to slap a ban on heavy load vehicles and container trucks from traveling on all thoroughfares in the five municipalities in Greater Jakarta during the Idul Fitri holidays.
Transportation Agency head Udar Pristono said that the ban would be enforced to reduce traffic accidents during the holiday exodus.
“The ban would be imposed 24 hours a day, four days before and after the Idul Fitri holidays,” Pristono told reporters.
However, he said, the agency would make exceptions for trucks carrying fuel, cattle, food, milk and mail.
Similar bans will be implemented in all provinces in the country.
