AKARTA: Members of House Commission I overseeing defense, foreign affairs and information are again planning several overseas junkets, this time to Spain and South Korea.
Commission I deputy chief Tubagus Hasanuddin said the trips were intended for lawmakers to conduct comparative studies to support deliberations of the strategic weaponry industries bill.
Tubagus said that Spain and South Korea were chosen as leaders in the field.
“We need to cooperate to formulate a strategic industry law,” Tubagus said on Thursday in Jakarta as quoted by tribunnews.com, declining to mention the timing of the visits.
“I’m not going because I’ll be visiting other regions on defense-related matters. […] The visits to Spain and South Korea are also intended to supervise the Indonesian embassies there,” Tubagus, a member of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), said.
