AXA moves to electronic services

P

T Asuransi AXA Indonesia announced on Friday its cooperation with healthcare management company PT GESA Assistance in launching the e-care service offering electronic insurance cards which can be used on electronic data capture (EDC) machines.

“AXA becomes the first user of the e-care service that uses a smart card equipped with a chip and biometric fingerprints. This is the first time such a card has been used for health services in Indonesia. We usually use them for ATM or credit cards,” GESA president and CEO Ramly Hasan said.

He said that hospitals would no longer need to call insurance providers for confirmation of AXA customers’ benefits, as the data would already be stored in the chip.

Hospital officials, he said, only had to swipe the card on EDC machines that would print out the details of the proportion of costs payable by AXA and the policy holders.

“We already provide EDC machines in more than 250 private and public hospitals,” Ramly said.

Ramly said that GESA would cooperate with other insurance companies to provide e-care services.

AXA president director Elvis Liongosari said that the chip and fingerprint on the card would guarantee safer, faster and more convenient services to AXA’s customers.

“Insurance services are not only about claims and policies, but also comfort and security,” he said.

Elvis said that AXA hoped to finish converting the current show-cards to the electronic card, especially for health insurance clients, within a year.

“There is no charge to change from show-cards to electronic cards. We will offer the electronic card to our existing customers when they renew their insurance,” Elvis said.

Elvis said AXA Indonesia currently had about 80,000 health insurance clients out of 150,000 customers in total. “We hope to have about 100,000 health insurance customers by the end of this year.”

Elvis revealed that AXA’s total premiums grew by 30 percent to this September.

“We aim to grow by about 25 percent in total premiums and 50 percent in health-benefit premiums next year,” Elvis said. (rcf)
