OGOR: The Bogor administration plans to reduce the number of public transportation routes near Bogor Botanical Garden (BBG) in an effort to reduce air pollution in the area.
“Our obsession is to make Bogor Botanical Garden free from pollution. At least we’re trying to reduce the routes of public transportation passing the garden, or extending the car-free day,” Bogor Mayor Diani Budiarto said.
The move was intended to underline the administration’s support for the garden, and to highlight the importance of keeping the garden clean as it has become one of the main sources of oxygen for Bogor residents.
On Tuesday, the administration and the management of BBG signed an agreement to further protect the garden as a national asset.
“Through this agreement, we hope we can improve our service to the visitors of the Bogor Botanical Garden,” head of BBG’s conservation Mustaid Siregar said.
