fter a month of delay, national flag carrier Garuda Indonesia is set to include the passenger service charge (PSC), or airport tax, in the cost of airline tickets starting Oct. 4, an executive said in Jakarta on Monday.

Garuda vice president of communications Pujobroto said the airline would implement the system at all commercial airports across the country under airport operators Angkasa Pura I (AP I) and Angkasa Pura II (AP II).

“We will include airport tax in airline tickets in 25 commercial airports in Indonesia, not only in the main gateway Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, as we planned earlier,” Pujobroto said after signing a memorandum of understanding with AP I and AP II.

He said that the execution of the system was a month late from its originally planned start date of Sept. 1 because the airline had to make sure its IT system was compatible with all airports systems, according to International Air Transport Association (IATA) guidelines, especially for international routes.

“We are currently processing the same system for our international routes because they are stricter than the domestic ones,” he said.

The airline’s IT system would adopt IATA’s Billing Settlement Plan to include the airport tax in its international routes’ ticket prices.

AP II president director Tri Sunoko said the collaboration with Garuda was aimed at accelerating passenger traffic in the crowded Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, as well as some other airports such as Husein Sastranegara Airport in Bandung, West Java.
