ater ski athletes from 26 countries will take part in an international water ski championship at the Jakabaring Sport Complex in Palembang, South Sumatra, on Nov. 23-25.
Apart from Indonesia as the host country, athletes from Australia, Belarus, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, New Zealand, the Philippines, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, the United States and the United Kingdom are slated to participate.
“The International Waterski and Wakeboard Federation and the Indonesian Waterski Association have appointed South Sumatra as the host of the championship,” organizing committee chairman Ahmad Rizal said on Thursday in Palembang.
He said there would be 91 participants, including 37 water ski and 28 wakeboard athletes, while the remainder would be contingent officials.
He said the South Sumatra administration was preparing the facilities and infrastructure at the Jakabaring Sport Complex ahead of the championship.
