ohammed Kamga started his career with vocal group Tangga in 2008 when he was just 18. With one foot in the music industry camp, he also tried his luck as a TV presenter. Known as Kamga among friends, he soon became a familiar face on Kompas TV, hosting a travel program called Explore Indonesia, which took him to remote areas across the country.

“I am very much a homebody kind of person. I am so much into home audio. I like watching blue rays and TV series like Modern Family. Nowadays, I am enjoying watching Castle.

I can cook a little though only one recipe — oxtail soup, I am very proud of it.

Before I had my show on Kompas TV, I dreamed of visiting remote areas in my spare time. Since it became my job, I now find I want to enjoy the charm of cities.

If I go abroad, I pick destinations that have interesting cities, such as European countries with interesting architecture or Japan with its high technology.

As an entertainer, I usually work when other people are on holiday.

When I was in senior high school, I wanted to spend New Year’s Eve with my schoolmates. However, as I grow older, I feel happier when I get jobs in holiday season. Holidaying is fun, but it’s cool to entertain people who are enjoying their holiday.

People may think that I am a romantic guy, but personally, I think I am a very realistic man. I like to give my girl simple things that are only meaningful to the two of us.

I believe that girls like special treatment, but as a man, we have to be able to keep them guessing. That is why I prefer small but meaningful attention to a huge surprise.

On my girlfriend’s birthday, for example, I ordered a special birthday cake with her favorite Disney character.

I love to share stories and listen to my friends, but I am also straightforward enough to let them know when I am not in a talking mood. My penchant for sharing stories also influences my hobby of writing.

Career wise, I feel more comfortable singing than hosting. Hosting is scary at times. It is very difficult. We are raised in a repressive culture that makes it difficult for us to speak up. When we have a chance to talk, we usually either talk too much or too little.

This year, if God is willing, I hope I can release a solo album. Hosting for the National Geographic channel is one of my dreams. I like the style of their hosts, who look natural when they talk to the audience. I hope such a hosting opportunity will give me a chance to introduce Indonesia to people abroad.”
