Your comments on the government'€™s plan to extend the moratorium on forest clearances, while simultaneously planning to restart log exports:

The government should first improve the implementation of the law to reduce cases of illegal logging, which remain rampant.

Rubiatna Rubby

Log exports have always been '€œstealing the national wealth'€, aside from plundering the forest ecological system, which consequently tip the world'€™s ecological balance.

Our log exporters and importers are equally punishable.

It would be wise if our country (through Interpol) would try to stop the log-business.

The extension of the moratorium on our forest clearance is commendable, but the thought of restarting log exports indicates weak government. Shame on us!

Our forests have been cleared for many years without any real effort to replant them. This has caused natural disasters in many parts of our country, such as floods and landslides. Restarting log exports means enriching some people at the expense of many communities.

The government should shift its focus from exploring natural resources to human resources as Indonesia has a large, young generation.

Log exports are not against the moratorium on forest clearance, if they are well managed.
