fter a five-day search, the body of Fitri Yani, who wentmissing in Bangko River in the village of Bangko Mukti, Bangko Pusako district,Rokan Hilir regency, Riau, has been found.

The body of the 11-year-old girl was discovered on Thursday by Bangko Mukti resident Misran, who was on his way to his farm.

'€œThe body was found around 30 meters from where she disappeared,'€ the Fitri'€™s neighbor, Jonathan Surbakti, told The Jakarta Post over the phone.

Fitri went missing on the morning of Nov. 19, having gone to bathe in the river alone. When she did not return home, her aunt, Dariah, reported her as missing to police.

Bangko Pusako Police chief Adj. Comr. James Sibarani and his personnel joined the search.

'€œWe found the crocodile by tracing its tracks. The girl - already dead - was still in its mouth. An officer shot at the crocodile twice, allowing us to recover the body, and then it dove into the river and did not reappear,'€ James said.

'€œIf the crocodile escaped from an enclosure, then the owner could be charged and prosecuted,'€ he added.
