eputy Law and Human Rights Minister Denny Indrayana said that the government was continuing to hunt for Bank Pembangunan Indonesia (Bapindo) swindler Eddy Tansil.

Denny said that a team was currently working to track down the whereabouts of Eddy. '€œWe continue to hunt him down,'€ Denny said as quoted by tempo.co.

Denny, however, declined to give details on the progress the efforts.

The Law and Human Rights Ministry filed a request for extradition with the China Central Authority in 2011 following a report that Eddy was detected to have been in China.

Eddy escaped from Cipinang Penitentiary in East Jakarta on May 4, 1996 while he was serving a 20-year prison sentence. He was proven guilty of having embezzled US$565 million in state funds in a credit scam channeled by Bapindo to his Golden Key Group.
