A fish bomb, known locally as a '€œbondet'€, is believed to be the cause of a blast that wrecked a house in the Bugul Permai complex in Bugul Kidul district, Pasuruan, East Java, leaving two people dead on Wednesday afternoon. The owner of the house has been identified as Sukron, 40.

Two people '€“ identified as Adi Suyitno, 32, Sukron'€™s brother-in-law, and Sukron'€™s baby daughter, Silvia '€“ were killed in the explosion. The blast happened at around 3:30 p.m. local time.

Bugul Kidul Police officers and military personnel from the 0819/01 Military Regional Command (Korem) sealed the site with police tape. Meanwhile Sukron'€™s wife, Novi, who was injured by the explosion, was brought to Dr.Soedarsono Hospital, Purut, Pasuruan.

Bugul Police chief, Comr. Agung, said the police had not yet investigated the crime scene as they were still waiting for the bomb squad from the East Java Police'€™s Mobile Brigade.

'€œCurrently, the bodies of the two dead victims are still at the location. We are still waiting for the forensic laboratory unit and the East Java Police'€™s Gegana bomb squad,'€ Agung told journalists. (ebf)
