Dishonest tax invoices costs RI Rp 1.5t: Ministry

T

he Finance Ministry's tax directorate general says that the government lost Rp 1.5 trillion (US$132 million) since 2008 from fraudulent tax invoices.

"Data from our intelligence team and tax directorate investigators shows that tax invoices dominate tax irregularity cases, even though the losses were not as big as other cases," the directorate's services and public relation director Kismantoro Petrus said in Jakarta on Monday as quoted by Antara.

He said that the Rp 1.5 trillion was based on 100 cases.

"We are going to set up a numbering system for tax invoices. Every company that sells goods and or services will be obliged to comply," he said.

On Thursday, the directorate general, collaborating with the National Police's detective unit arrested Z alias J alias B, who issued falsified tax invoices, in East Jakarta. Z caused Rp 247 billion losses to the state. (nfo)
