State railway operator PT Kereta Api Indonesia's (KAI) Operational Region (Daop) I Jakarta spokesperson, Agus Komarudin, said on Saturday that the number of passengers traveling to their hometowns through Pasar Senen station was 274,865 between July 18 to 27, according to tribunnews.com. The most recent data was collected at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
"The total number of seats each day can only accommodate 18,000, with 16 departures daily and nine extra carriages," he said.
Passengers are traveling to several destinations from the station, including Cirebon, Semarang, Yogyakarta and Surabaya.
There are still many passengers continuing to arrive at Pasar Senen station to travel to their hometowns. There were also reportedly several people who were still trying to get tickets from others.
