uala Lumpur-based low-cost carrier AirAsia Berhad announced on Tuesday its plan to increase its Kuala Lumpur-Balikpapan flight service from three times a week to once a day in mid-October this year.
The additional frequency was aimed at enhancing connectivity between Malaysia and Indonesia.
"We are seeing rising demand from the market, so we have decided to increase flight frequency to once a day beginning Oct. 16. The flight services will be operated by AirAsia Berhad with an AK flight code," Indonesia AirAsia commercial director Andy Adrian Febryanto said in a statement made available to The Jakarta Post on Tuesday.
To celebrate the new frequency and to attract more passengers, the carrier was offering a promotional rate of Rp 401,000 (US$34.48) for a one-way ticket during the booking period of Aug. 19 until Aug. 24 for travel between Aug. 19 and Jan. 31, 2015, he said. (nfo)
