No medal present for Sri'€™s wedding day

f only Sri Ranti could have won a medal, it would have been a sweet gift for her wedding day scheduled a week after the end of the games.

The 24-year-old archer had held on with straight-flying arrows until her bow cracked under pressure from her opponents in the women'€™s compound individual match on Thursday.

At the Gyeyang archery field, Sri opened her day'€™s competition triumphantly. She scored 10 eight times and 9 seven times for a total of 143 to eliminate Iraqi Fatimah Mahmood Al Mashhadani, who scored 138.

Sri plans to marry rock-climbing athlete Rachmat Gunawan on Oct. 9.

'€œHe is from Sidoarjo [East Java]. But he has been playing in the National Games for West Java,'€ she said about her would-be groom during a break ahead of her next match in the following afternoon.

In the later match, Sri was three points short of her earlier score as her opponent Choi Bo-min notched 142.
