nterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) recently inaugurated Holiday Inn Express Jakarta Pluit Citygate in North Jakarta, making a total of five Holiday Inn Express properties across the country'€™s major cities.

'€œIndonesia is an important market and is now home to five Holiday Inn Express hotels in Jakarta, Bali and Semarang [Central Java]. We look forward to welcoming 12 more [hotels] over the next few years, giving more guests the chance to enjoy a refreshing and uncomplicated experience when traveling in Indonesia for work or play,'€ IHG chief operating officer for the Asia, Middle East and Africa regions Alan Watts said in a statement released to The Jakarta Post on Monday.

Watts said that he believed the new 297-room property was a smart choice for travelers since it was just 15 minutes away from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, the country'€™s main gateway, and close to shopping centers including the Emporium Shopping Mall and the popular Mangga Dua Mall so beloved by bargain hunters.

Moreover, the Pluit district offers some of the capital'€™s most exciting family adventures, such as Waterbom Jakarta and Ancol Dreamland.

'€œThe guests can also take a short drive to the Pantai Indah Kapuk neighborhood, which is known for its range of restaurants and cafes serving up delicious local and international cuisine,'€ Watts added.

He said that the Holiday Inn Express brand was IHG'€™s growth engine at the moment.

He claimed than they were opening more of these hotels across the world than any of their other brands.

'€œOn average, we open two [Holiday Inn Express] hotels a week globally,'€ he said.

Holiday Inn Express Jakarta Pluit Citygate is the fifth in Indonesia, following the opening of Holiday Inn Express Semarang Simpang Lima, Holiday Inn Express Jakarta Thamrin, Holiday Inn Express Bali Kuta Square and Holiday Inn Express Bali Raya Kuta in the last 10 months.

It is also the tenth Holiday Inn Express property in Southeast Asia.

IHG is a global company with a broad portfolio of nine hotel brands, including InterContinental Hotels & Resorts, Hotel Indigo, Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts, Holiday Inn Hotels & Resorts, Holiday Inn Express, Staybridge Suites, Candlewood Suites, EVEN Hotels and HUALUXE Hotels and Resorts. (++++)
