our pilots from two KT-1B aircraft of Indonesia's Jupiter aerobatics team, which crashed around 2:00 p.m. on Sunday after a minor mid-air collision during practice for the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace 2015 exhibition, have survived the incident but are suffering varying injuries.
They have been sent to hospital for treatment, where they will be observed.
One of the aircraft crashed within the perimeter of Langkawi International Airport and the other crashed near Kampung Gelam, which lies just outside the airport's grounds, New Straits Times reported.
Combat search and rescue helicopters of the Royal Malaysian Air Force were dispatched to locate the pilots and airport emergency teams were sent to deal with the fires.
Two houses were set alight by the KT-1B that crashed outside the airport. No casualties were reported but a local resident fainted in the incident.
The two aircraft were part of a formation of six and had broken off from the main group to perform a pass at each other from opposite directions in front of the Mahsuri International Exhibition Center.
All practice flights for aircraft performing aerial displays were halted as combat search and rescue helicopters were deployed to find the pilots. (+++++)
