Young designer Nonita Respati, known for her Purana batik brand, finds that reading books is as important as traveling when it comes to getting ideas for her designs.
'When you travel, it is more of your visual ability that does the work, but when you read, you shake up your imagination ' both traveling and reading are equally important for me,' Nonita told The Jakarta Post.
Nonita is currently gearing up for the new collection of Purana for Jakarta Fashion Week, which will be held in October.
She said her new collection highlights handmade tie-dye techniques in a practical and modern look, which is inspired by the Japanese kimono.
The designer, who is also working on her brand's website puranaindonesia.com, finds reading books relaxing.
'It can be novels, a simple Pantone book or even ones about fashion trends. But since I'm a visual person, I like to read books with colors, photos or illustrations, so I can be entertained at the same time.'
