Your letters: '€˜Jurassic World'€™ gives nothing new

In spite of the global hue and cry and appreciable financial success, the third sequel of the famous Jurassic Park movie series, Jurassic World directed by Colin Trevorrow, produced by Frank Marshall and Patrick Cowley and starring Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Irfan Khan, Vincent D’Onofrio, BD Wong, Ty Simpkins, Nick Robinson, Omar Sy and others, failed to provide any fuel for satisfying an intellectual hunger

I

n spite of the global hue and cry and appreciable financial success, the third sequel of the famous Jurassic Park movie series, Jurassic World directed by Colin Trevorrow, produced by Frank Marshall and Patrick Cowley and starring Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Irfan Khan, Vincent D'€™Onofrio, BD Wong, Ty Simpkins, Nick Robinson, Omar Sy and others, failed to provide any fuel for satisfying an intellectual hunger.

The film loosely follows the first movie in the series, the original Jurassic Park by ace director Steven Spielberg, as a poor remake. Although the quality of photography, camera work, computer graphics, sound and stunts as technical highlights of the movie must be highly appreciated, it fails to provide anything new to the audience other than the same old wine professionally packaged in a new bottle.

The same concepts and story line from the other movies in the form of gene splicing, gene and genome editing and gene jockeying were once again monotonously repeated. The only new addition was the introduction of a genetically modified hybrid dinosaur species, named Indominus Rex.

The movie suffers from several scientific inaccuracies regarding different species of the giant reptiles portrayed in the movie in light of the latest paleontological research and findings around the globe.

Never for a single moment had the audience any doubt regarding the expected end of the movie and hence it fails to generate the thrill and suspense like that associated with the Spielberg version.

A mediocre production with poor intellectual qualities, but appreciable commercial success has prompted the producers to line up another sequel to the series to be released in 2018.

I would humbly request the production team to come up with some innovative ideas in the story plot rather than repeating the same thing time and again in different packages.

One has to remember that repeated use of the same thing is also called '€œabuse'€. The only exciting part was a smart performance by newcomer to Hollywood, Irfan Khan, leaving an impressive footprint of his charismatic acting qualities with the global audience.

I would love to see him more in other Hollywood productions in the future.
