M

alaysian developer Building Green, Modern Constructions (BGMC) Corporation has expressed its interest in developing an Islamic center and international school in North Sumatra.

The investment interest was publicly announced after a meeting with North Sumatra Governor T. Erry Nuradi at his office in Medan on Sept. 27.

“We want to invest in the development of an Islamic center as well as international school in North Sumatra,” said BGMC Corporation chairman Tan Sri Barry Goh.

In response, Erry Nuradi praised BGMC Corporation’s plan, saying it was in accordance with the regional administration’s role as the host of a national Quran recital competition (MTQ) in June 2018.

“I have instructed the related government institutions to immediately follow up and coordinate with BGMC in a bid to realize the project,” he said, adding that the administration had offered 50 hectares of land in Deli Serdang regency, around 7 kilometers from Kualanamu airport, for the project.
