our of 10 passengers and crew members of the Cahaya Putri Abadi vessel, which sunk on Saturday in Lambego Island waters, Selayar Islands regency, South Sulawesi, were still missing as of Monday.

The vessel, which departed from Flores in East Nusa Tenggara province and was headed for Japento regency, South Sulawesi, sank in rough seas after being hit by high waves.

Selayar Search and Rescue team coordinator Febrianto Tri Setyawan said six of the passengers and crew members were saved by a fishing boat.

“This morning, we searched around the location of the incident but found nothing,” Febrianto said.

He said some of the survivors suffered injuries and were taken to a nearby community health center.

The wooden vessel was carrying 100 farm animals, such as buffaloes, cows, horses and goats. (jun)
