he public relations office of Bung Karno Sports Complex (GBK) management said in a press release on Tuesday that murder victim Dodi Triono, a businessman and an architect, had been a long time partner of GBK’s development.

“First, we would like to send our deepest condolences to the family of Dodi Triono for the tragedy that happened,” the statement said.

GBK management said Dodi was part of plans to renovate sections of the sports complex but not a project related to the Asian Games 2018, as previously reported by several sources.

The statement did not specify Dodi's role in the planned renovation project.

“Several media outlets reported that Dodi was the winner of a tender to renovate GBK’s main soccer stadium [for Asian Games 2018] but to our knowledge, he did not have any direct working relations with the aforementioned project,” GBK management said.

Dodi was one of six victims who was allegedly murdered on Monday at his house in Pulo Mas, East Jakarta. Police uncovered the murders the following day when a friend of the family came to visit one of the victims, Dodi’s 16-year-old daughter.

Eleven family members, employees, and a friend of the family were locked inside a small bathroom in one of the most heinous crimes in recent memory. (evi)
