T Pembangunan Jaya Ancol plans to build the world’s largest aquarium by 2019, an executive has said.

Currently, the company has been conducting studies in several countries that have big aquariums, including Japan, China and the United States.

Pembangunan Jaya Ancol president director Paul Tehusijarana said the aquarium would be called the “New Seaworld.”

“We are calculating carefully the investment costs,” Paul said as quoted by wartakota.tribunnews.com on Sunday.

The new aquarium will feature cultural themes from regions across the archipelago.

PT Pembangunan Jaya Ancol director Teuku Sahir Syahali estimated the aquarium would cost more than Rp 2 trillion (US$150 million).
