ersonnel of the Sragen Police, Central Java, confiscated more than 30,000 pills during a raid on a house in Karangmalang on Tuesday evening.

The police also arrested 24-year-old Prisyanto alias Kempros at the location on suspicion of dealing drugs.

“We had long suspected him of being a drug dealer. All this time, he [allegedly] supplied pills to areas across Surakarta. The pills were sold either in secret or via couriers,” claimed Sragen Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Ari Wibowo.

He said the pills were found in two large cardboard boxes. The first box comprised 175 smaller boxes containing a total of 8,750 tramadol pills, a painkiller. Meanwhile, the other box consisted of 240 smaller boxes containing a total of 24,000 trihexyphenidyl pills, a medicine used to treat Parkinson's disease.

“In total we confiscated 32,750 tramadol and trihexyphenidyl pills as evidence. We are investigating the suspect. It is likely three or four other people will be named suspects in the case,” said Ari.

The house, raided by officers of the Karangmalang Police’s criminal investigation unit, was located in Kampung Plempeng, Mojorejo village, Karangmalang, Sragen.

Karangmalang Police chief Adj. Comr.  Agus Irianto, who led the operation, said the decision to conduct the raid was based on reports from the neighborhood head and several nearby residents.

The residents complained Prisyanto’s house was always crowded and had become a hangout for  young people in the village.

“Several residents reported they spotted transactions involving pills in the house. We later coordinated with the police to carry out an investigation. After confirming the illegal drug transactions, we raided the house,” said Agus. (ebf)
