gas canister exploded in front of the Bina Insani elementary school in Cipondoh, Tangerang, Banten, wounding a man and several children on Wednesday morning.
The canister was reportedly used for filling balloons by a vendor before it went off at 8 a.m.
The incident severely injured the balloon seller and bystanders, including several Bina Insani students. The victims were rushed to the Usada Insani and Mulya hospitals in Cipondoh.
"It has been confirmed that there are no fatalities. However, the balloon seller is suffering from severe injuries and is currently hospitalized,” said Cipondoh Police chief Comr. Bayu Suseno, as quoted by kompas.com on Wednesday.
He added that police were currently listing the injured students as well as other wounded bystanders. Meanwhile, the Bina Insani school suspended classes for the day. (agn)
