State achieves 56.1% of annual revenue target up to August

he state has collected Rp 972.9 trillion in revenue in the first seven months of the year, or 56.1 percent of the full-year target of Rp 1.74 quadrillion, according to the Finance Ministry.
The revised state budget for 2017 assumes a deficit amounting to 2.92 percent of the gross domestic product, but the ministry’s director general of risk management, Robert Pakpahan, said the government was trying to keep the deficit at 2.67 percent of GDP.
“Based on the experience of the last few years, the government believes that the deficit can be curbed at 2.67 percent of GDP,” Robert said in Jakarta on Friday, as reported by kontan.co.id.
Read also: Weak revenue collection the real problem, not deficitMeanwhile, on the expenditure side, the government had spent Rp 1.19 quadrillion, about 52 percent of the full-year expenditure stated in the state budget (Rp 2.13 quadrillion), the official added.
He said the central government had spent Rp 695.7 trillion, or 50.9 percent of its anticipated full-year total, while transfer spending had reached Rp 502.6 trillion, or 65.6 percent of the target.
“With the realization [of both revenue collection and spending], the deficit has reached Rp 224.4 trillion, about 1.65 percent of GDP,” he added.
With the fiscal deficit outlook at 2.67 percent of GDP, government debt papers to be issued this year will amount to Rp 712 trillion, Robert added. (bbn)
