hose applying for, upgrading or renewing their driver’s license (SIM) will as of June 25 be charged an additional fee following the inclusion of a psychological test as a requirement to obtain a license.
Jakarta Traffic Police driver’s license section head Cmr. Fahri Siregar said the cost for the test would be paid by the applicants
He also said the additional cost amount had not yet been determined. “This cost issue is outside the jurisdiction of the police, the police’s interest is in the psychological test as a requirement that must be passed in the processing of a driver’s license.” Fahri said.
The test is currently only required for public transportation drivers, at a cost of Rp 35,000 (US$2.50).
Previously, Fahri had stated that all drivers were required to undergo a psychological test to obtain, upgrade or renew their driver’s license, so as to comply with Law No. 22/2009 on traffic and a National Police chief regulation on driver’s licenses, (acr)
