T MRT Jakarta has announced that a tender will be opened for the second phase of the MRT, particularly for the construction of a receiving substation (RSs) at the National Monument (Monas) Park in Central Jakarta.

“We have not put the [main] construction project of [MRT phase two] out to tender,” said PT MRT Jakarta corporate secretary Hikmat in Jakarta on Wednesday as reported by kontan.co.id.

He explained that to participate in the tender, business entities or partnerships of business entities had to be domiciled in Indonesia and be experienced in constructing diaphragm walls.

Hikmat said the companies should have four years’ experience and have constructed at least three diaphragm walls, measuring 3,000 square meters each, in urban and crowded areas that were sensitive to noise pollution and other environment issues.

“The criteria for the participants and other information are available on the MRT website,” Hikmat said, adding that the project was scheduled to in December.

The 15.7-kilometer phase one of the MRT from Lebak Bulus in South Jakarta to the Hotel Indonesia (HI) traffic circle in Central Jakarta is expected to start operation in March 2019. Meanwhile, the 8.3-kilometer phase two of the MRT will run from the HI traffic circle to Kampung Bandan in North Jakarta.  (bbn)
