An event called Petualangan Alam Komodo (Komodo Adventure) was held in West Manggarai Regency on Nov. 24 – 26.
“An adventure of searching for Komodo dragons is something that should be experienced by yourself and we gave this opportunity to bloggers, media, Indonesian Charms Generation (GenPI) and overseas tourists,” said West Manggarai Regent, Agustinus Ch Dhula.
On the first day of the trip, the group visited places such as Labuan Bajo, Padar Island, Rinca Island.
While trekking in Rinca Island that mostly consists of savannah area, they encountered the Komodo dragons several times.
By the evening time, they traveled to Kalong Island, to see thousands of bats.
On the second day, the group went to Batu Balok, a legendary tourist site in West Manggarai. To go to Batu Balok they had to pass through several villages such as Golo Garang, Ndehek, Lekaturi, Lando, Rakok, Bentala, Humpung and Tureng.
The group arrived in Warloka Village in the afternoon to have lunch and take some rest. They then traveled to the last destination of the trip which was Strawberry Rock.
Strawberry Rock, or locally known as Nisa Purung, consists of corals in Labuan Bajo. The name Nisa means island whilst Purung means burning, a fitting name for the pink-colored coral island. (asw)
