he Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) found two guns and Rp 2.8 billion (US$172,922) in cash while raiding a private house of corruption suspect Topan Obaja Putra Ginting at a luxurious housing complex in Medan on Wednesday.
Topan has been suspended from his position as head of the North Sumatra Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency (PUPR) for his alleged involvement in a road construction corruption case.
Investigators spent nearly seven hours during the raid and search of the house, the third site after raiding and searching the PUPR Agency office and the head’s official house on Tuesday.
KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo said during the search at Topan’s private residence that KPK investigators found a Beretta gun with seven bullets and an air rifle with two packs of pellets.
Budi said the investigators would check whether the suspect had the license from the police to own a gun.
“We will coordinate with the police to investigate the firearm findings,” he said through the WhatsApp messaging app.
He added that KPK investigators also secured Rp 2.8 billion in cash consisting of 28 stacks of Rp 100,000 banknotes, which were found in the main room of Topan’s private residence.
