PNM PKU holds webinar on quality-education SDGs for female ultra-micro entrepreneurs

A

s part of its commitment to support MSME products, PT Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM) via the Business Capacity Development (PKU) program has held a webinar with the theme of "Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for Quality Education".

Held virtually on Aug. 3, the webinar was attended by 30,000 PNM Mekaar customers from Sulawesi, Central Java, Yogyakarta, East Java, West Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara and Bali.

This webinar is a vital part of PNM's commitment to build emotional relationships and provide support to PNM customers in order to gain new knowledge and information that can benefit MSME businesses throughout Indonesia.

During the event, State-Owned Enterprises (SOE) Minister Erick Thohir highlighted the importance of self-development for women, while PNM independent-commissioner Veronica Colondam explained the importance of education for customers and AO PNM Mekaar in line with the SDGs.

The webinar also stressed the important role of MSMEs in realizing the SDGs in Indonesia. PNM itself is one of the Ultra Micro Holdings formed by the government specifically to empower MSMEs in order to continuously support and improve the capabilities and quality of its customers so that they continue to grow.

The material presented in the webinar includes new developments that encourage changes that shift toward sustainable development, based on human rights and equality, so as to promote social, economic and environmental development.

At the same time, the webinar also serves as empowerment through the three PNM Capital: financial, intellectual and social.

Financial capital is represented by a business-capital program that is collective in nature, without loan guarantees and has an insured system. Meanwhile, intellectual capital is represented by a PKU training-and-development program provided to customers for them to upskill and become independent.

Lastly, social capital is represented by a training program for customers so that they can interact and exchange economic business in one ecosystem, with the aim of encouraging customers to empower the community around them.

"I hope that in the future, [PNM customers] will always implement knowledge of the SDGs and continue to increase their efforts so that they can go up a grade," Veronica concluded.

As of Aug. 3, PNM has disbursed Rp. 131.80 trillion (US$8,828,531.17) in financing to 12.31 million PNM Mekaar customers. Currently, PNM has 3,500 PNM Mekaar service offices and 688 PNM ULaMM service offices throughout Indonesia, serving MSMEs in 34 provinces, 422 regencies and cities and 5,640 sub-districts.
