ow should people take care of their skin when fasting, when they are unable to drink or eat anything during the day for almost the whole month? Turns out, there are ways to do so. Dr Ammarilis, SpKK, a dermatovenereologist, shares some useful tips.

More protein

Start from the inside. Add more protein to your plate during sahur and iftar to maintain healthy skin, nails and hair. You can get protein form meat, fish, greens, beans and fruit.

Wear lip balm

Apply lip balm whenever necessary. One important tip: avoid licking your lips, as it makes your lips even drier.

Hair tonic

Add hair tonic or hair vitamins to your haircare routine to keep your hair moist and shining.

Avoid stress

Avoid, or more precisely manage, your stress. Stress doesn’t only make your brain tired and therefore induce hunger, it can also bring about skin problems. If your workload doesn’t lessen, you could try changing your pace for a more balanced result.

Light exercise

Do light exercises even when you're fasting, for example by taking a daily walk or even by simply taking the stairs at the office instead of the elevator. This will help reduce your stress and at the same time, it will also help regulate your blood pressure, as well as maintaining body weight. (asw)
