he Communications and Information Ministry recently launched a national competition to identify talented cybersecurity workers and help to hone their skills.
The Born to Control competition is a collaboration between the ministry’s Directorate of Information Security, Directorate General of Applications and Information as well as software technology services provider PT Xynexis.
The ministry’s acting head of public relations Noor Iza told kompas.com on Wednesday that the country was facing a shortage of cybersecurity talent, which could pose a threat for business and security.

The cybersecurity competition aims to attract at least 10,000 participants.
Those interested can register online via the competition’s website. Selection will take place between April and May in eight cities, namely Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Bandung in West Java, Palembang in South Sumatra, Medan in North Sumatra, Malang in East Java, Samarinda in East Kalimantan and Makassar in South Sulawesi.
Successful applicants will take part in the competition’s digital camp and receive a training certificate, as well as scholarship and internship opportunities. (jes/kes)
