‘Aruna and Her Palate’ releases trailer, reveals new characters

he trailer for Aruna dan Lidahnya (Aruna and Her Palate) was released on Thursday and revealed two more characters: Mbak Priya (Sarah Azhari) and Pak Burhan (Desta).

The trailer, contains scenes that are included in the teaser, but it goes deeper into the relationships between Aruna (Dian Sastrowardoyo), Farish (Oka Antara), Nad (Hannah Al-Rashid) and Bono (Nicholas Saputra).

Aruna and Her Palate follows the story of food lover Aruna, who is assigned by her superior, Pak Burhan, to investigate bird flu cases in several places in Indonesia. Meanwhile, Mbak Priya is the superior of Farish and used to work with Aruna.

Aruna's investigations take her traveling to four cities with her friends, Nad and Bono, who are also passionate about food. In the middle of the journey, they meet Farish, Aruna’s former colleague and crush.

Throughout their adventure, they taste a variety of Indonesian food, among them nasi cumi (rice with squid) from Surabaya in East Java and lorjuk (razor clams) from Pamekasan in Madura, East Java. A total of 21 foods, beverages and snacks can be found in the film.

Each character is also presented with issues of their own. Aruna is looking for a particular fried rice dish that she has been longing for, Farish is trying to finish a job, Bono is struggling with his unrequited feelings and Nad is trying to have a culinary adventure. The trailer also shows a glimpse of a personal conflict between Aruna, Farish and Nad. In one of the scenes, Farish tells Aruna to avoid “mixing personal problems with work”.

Shot in April and May, the movie is scheduled to be released on Sept. 27. Aruna and Her Palate is directed by Edwin and based on a novel by Laksmi Pamuntjak. The film’s soundtrack is performed by January Christy, Fe Utomo and Monita Tahalea. (wng)
