The renowned Namarina ballet school presented a gala evening to celebrate its 60th anniversary at Teater Besar in Jakarta’s Taman Ismail Marzuki [TIM] cultural center on Dec. 3. The performance involved more than 100 dancers from three generations consisting of alumni, teachers and students.

The performance was divided into two parts. The first section covered the history of Namarina since founder Nanny Lubis began the school in 1956, until the present day. At the end of the first part, 100 children danced as a symbol of the new generation of Namarina. The second part featured Namarina dancers in a ballet with both classical and modern elements, titled Tradikal. [evi]
