Some of the runners took the opportunity to participate while simultaneously showcasing Indonesia’s cultural heritage through their outfits.
The wheelchair category flag off was held at 6.10 a.m., with 100 participants.
Runners also took the opportunity to immerse themselves in the beauty of Bali through the panoramic landscape and the local inhabitants.
The Maybank Marathon held five categories, one of which was the children’s sprint.
Indonesia’s first and only “Elite” label road race in Indonesia, the Maybank Marathon, drew more than 12,700 runners from 57 countries this year.
Gathering at the start line at the Bali United Training Center, Gianyar, for the flag off for each category, enthusiasm ran high as the first flag-off was conducted at 4.30 a.m. for the marathon category. It was quickly followed by the half marathon category, the 10K category, the wheelchair category, as well as the children’s sprint.
Toward noon, the committee announced a total of 83 winners of the race on the podium, which marked the end of the 2024 Maybank Marathon. In total, the winners took home total cash prizes of more than Rp 2.4 billion.
President director of Maybank Indonesia, Steffano Ridwan, congratulated the winners of this year’s Maybank Marathon at the press conference held after the race at the Bali United Training Center.
He also expressed his admiration for the enthusiasm of the participants, adding that the benchmark for the success of the Maybank Marathon was not merely the number of runners, but the safety and comfort factors that were implemented.
