JAKARTA: North Jakarta Police have arrested three suspects of a murder of Bambang Sapto Nugroho, 50, whose body was found dead in a suitcase on Lake Sunter, North Jakarta.

The suspects, identified as Sulaiman a.k.a Soleh, Naresh and Robin, were being questioned at the North Jakarta Police, detik.com reported Saturday.

North Jakarta Police chief detective Comr. Roma Hutajulu told the newsportal they were still tracking down two suspects identified as Stephen (a U.S. citizen) and Dadang (an Indonesian citizen).

The source said the five suspects were business partners' of Bambang, who was involved in a garment business called PT Kemuning Active Wear in Cibinong, West Java.

The five suspects were reported to have invited Bambang to a meeting at Sari Pan Pacific Hotel in Central Jakarta, Hutajulu said.

They rented a VIP room there and gave Bambang alcohol until he was drunk and nearly unconscious. Still alive, he was put into the suitcase, which had recently been bought by Sulaiman, Steven's chauffeur, Hutajulu told detik.com.

"Based on information from the arrested suspects, the motive behind the murder was business competition," Hutajulu said.

Police said Stephen was suspected to have already left Indonesia. --JP
