Indonesia handed Independence Cup

Indonesia won the Independence Cup international soccer tournament by default Friday after Libya refused to continue playing during the final at Bung Karno Stadium in Jakarta. Indonesia trailed 1-0 after Abdallah Mohammed scored at the 13th minute of the tournament broadcast live on RCTI. Nevertheless, the visiting team failed to show up at the start of the second half. The RCTI host reported the Libyan team had decided to walk out following an incident between two coaches from the competing sides. Indonesia was handed a 3-1 win. Earlier, Indonesia's under-21 team took third place after beating Myanmar 1-0. -- JP
