AHAT, S. Sumatra: About 20 foreign visitors on an ecotourism tour stopped at Lahat in South Sumatra on Wednesday as part of the 2008 Visit Musi promotion program.
During their visit to Lahat, the tourists from the Netherlands, Switzerland, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Japan, Korea, Thailand and Australia saw the suspension bridge, the Lamatang River and its waterfall.
After Lahat, the entourage continued to Pagar Alam city, visiting several destination across the city.
In Pagar Alam, they visited Dempo Mountain, Curup Embun and Curup Mangkok waterfalls, bamboo forest park, a megalith relic and a Besemah traditional house in the tourism kampong of Plang Kenidai.
"The people of Lahat welcomed them. We hope they enjoy the beauty of Lahat's nature and the people's hospitality," Sri Muliati, the head of Lahat regency tourism and culture agency, said Thursday.
She said she hoped that by visiting Lahat, the tourists would later help the regency to promote it as a tourism destination.
The entourage's leader, Lorned Jonsen, said the tourists enjoyed the local's warm greeting. --JP
