Usually, it is a popular habit to bash government offices, probably often with good reason, I think it is fair to also give them due credit when they are doing a good job.
Like so many people, delaying unpopular things until the last minute, I admit I myself have taken up this "infamous habit" this year, in submitting my annual tax declaration.
On 30 March, I finally went to the tax office in Serpong (BSD City) to deliver my yearly tax declaration (SPT Tahunan). Since this was last minute, I expected a long queue and a waiting period of maybe up to four hours. When I arrived there, I indeed joined hundreds of last minute tax form submitters; however, I was entirely wrong regarding the waiting time! The tax office was very well prepared to handle the huge crowd, by setting up a special service section in their big meeting room.
A sizeable number of civil servants were assigned to serve their customers. The process was very well-organized and running smoothly. After only 30 minutes, I was done and on my way home.
Congratulations and many thanks to the tax office in Serpong for doing a very good job.
