MATARAM: The Mataram prosecutor's office destroyed drugs and liquor Friday after using them as evidence in a criminal trial.
The event, held at their office yard in West Nusa Tenggara on Friday, marked the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, which fell on June 26, local chief prosecutor Warsa Susanta.
"This is in line with the law, which states that all evidence used in trials with a final verdict must be destroyed."
The drugs included 18.6 grams of crystal methamphetamine (shabu-shabu), 37 ecstasy pills, 8.4 kilograms of cannabis, 300 bottles of assorted alcohol and more than 10 jerry cans of traditional alcoholic drinks, such as arak and fermented coconut milk. -JP
