JAKARTA: There are many ways to help support the needy, and rock band J-Rocks has found the one that suits them: Auctioning off their songs with plans to donate the money to victims of the recent earthquake in West Java’s Tasikmalaya.
“This is a good month to do a good deed,” lead singer and guitarist of the group Iman Taufik Rahman said, as quoted by entertainment newsportal kapanlagi.com on Thursday.
Auctioned off for Rp 2 million at a fund-raising event in a Central Jakarta cafe, J-Rocks’ hit song “Mengejar Mimpi” (Chasing Dreams) became the band’s means to do a bit of philanthropic work.
“We are merely contributing what we can for charity. It’s the people who donate their money who are actually doing something,” Iman said. “We’re just happy that our song can help those in need.”
The charity event is perhaps the highlight of the group’s series of performances this month as
they choose to take a break to celebrate Idul Fitri with their families despite tempting offers to perform on D-Day.
“We’re taking a week’s break for our families as we feel that we’ve been too busy these past months,” Iman said.
“For J-Rocks, money can be earned some other time. Family is more sacred.” — JP
