AKARTA: General Crime unit of Central Jakarta Police officers paralyzed two members of infamous street gang, Kapak Merah (Red Axe), which is notorious for members armed with red axes, by shooting them in the legs while they attempted a mugging in front of the Central Jakarta Military command post (Kodim) Wednesday evening.

The two thugs, Henri Saputro and Edi Utoyo, were spotted by patrol police trying to steal the side mirrors from Manopo's car.

Manopo, 60, called for help as the thugs tried to remove the mirrors, which drew the attention of patrol police officers.

Upon seeing the police, the suspects attempted to flee the scene, ignoring the warning shots.

City Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Chrysnanda Dwi Laksana said the officers then shot them in the legs to paralyze them.
