esidents of Villa Tangerang Regency II housing complex in the Gelam Jaya Village of Tangerang were shocked to learn that one of the complex residents had been using his home to produce drugs.
The Jakarta Police raided house No. 27 at Blok AA in the complex on Friday afternoon and arrested three men identified as Lexi L. Amin, 45, owner of the house, Supriyanto, 33, drug ingredients supplier and Susanto, 37, a courier, as suspects.
All the neighbors said they were unaware of the police raid.
Officers seized 96,000 ecstasy pills, 5 liters of liquid crystal methamphetamine, 200 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 9 plastic bags of baking soda, 2.5 litters of cylen, 2.5 liters of sulphate acid, 2.5 liters of aceton, an electric stove and several other items used to produce the drugs.
Joice, 38, who lives across the road, said that she and other neighbors had no knowledge of the drug activities in Lexi’s house.
“Not many neighbors know Lexi and his wife because the family seemed to keep to themselves,” the mother of two said.
“We never knew what they did for a living.”
What Joice and other close neighbors knew was that Lexi lived with his wife and their daughter named Shella, 13, in the house.
Lexi is rarely seen at home and never communicated with neighbors, she said.
“I have never seen any neighbors entering the house for a chat,” she said, adding that she had seen a minivan parked right in front of the house.
She did not suspect anything until the police raid was over on Friday morning.
Eny, 40, Lexi’s next door neighbor, said she was shocked after learning that Lexi produced drugs at his home in the complex.
“I frequently heard hammering sounds around midday, but I never thought the sounds were those of someone producing drugs,” she said, adding that she and other neighbors had never seen any guests visiting to the house.
Jakarta Police drug director Sr. Comr. Anjan Pramuka, who led the raid, said that officers arrested the suspects following a tip-off.
“Lexi is unemployed, but every morning he went to bank to deposit money. We had been watching him for three months,” he told journalists.
He said that when officers raided the three-story house, they caught Supriyanto and Susanto producing drugs in a room on the third floor.
Lexi, testified that he had obtained the materials from Cengkareng, West Jakarta and sold the drugs to dealers in Teluk Gong, North Jakarta and Grogol, West Jakarta.
Lexi said he had produced the drug at home for nine months and had collected cash amounting to
Rp 10 billion from the illegal activity.
