OUTH TANGERANG: The ongoing contruction of busway lanes and shelters between Serpong in South Tangerang municipality and Lebak Bulus in South Jakarta has drawn the ire of local residents.

"The South Tangerang municipal administration is ignoring the rights of pedestrians by proceeding with this project, and as the authorities they should know better," resident Rasyud Syakir said Monday.

He added some busway shelters on South Tangerang's main street were being built on sidewalks, which had been earmarked exclusively for pedestrians.

"I wonder why the local administration is turning a blind eye to such a violation," Rasyud said.
